Weekly update: Fire visit for First Kick

Chris Gbandi and FC Dallas are ready to start the season.

FC DALLAS OPENS 10TH SEASON THIS SATURDAY NIGHT AT COTTON BOWL:
FC Dallas and the Chicago Fire will begin their 2005 Major League Soccer season against one another this Saturday, April 2 at 7:30 p.m. at the Cotton Bowl. This will be the first match of two against Chicago this season as FCD looks to retain the Brimstone Cup (awarded to the winner of the season series between the two teams) for the fourth consecutive year. The Brimstone Cup was first awarded in 2001 and it went to Chicago. Including the playoffs, the two teams played six matches against one another with the Fire outscoring Dallas 11-7 and taking home the first ever Brimstone Cup. Dallas took the 2002 Brimstone Cup (6-0), retained the Cup in 2003 after a 3-3 tie in two matches and then won by a 6-0 margin in 2004. Fans of both the Fire and FC Dallas united to create the cup, which commemorates the rivalry between the two squads. This season FC Dallas will host the Fire this Saturday and then travel to Chicago on June 12.

FC Dallas has won three straight over Chicago dating back to Sept. 20, 2003. They have outscored the Fire 8-1 in those three matches.
