Reserves: Revolution 2, FC Dallas 1

Geoff Walker and Khano Smith notched first-half goals for the visiting New England Revolution Reserves (4-2-1) in a 2-1 defeat of the FC Dallas Reserves (3-3-1) on Sunday morning at one of Pizza Hut Park Practice Fields.

The Revs controlled play early in the game, maintaining constant possession of the ball. That paid dividends and in the 18th minute New England opened the score on a Geoff Walker goal. Khano Smith sent a cross from the top left to a wide open Jamie Holmes, who smashed a shot that hit the left post, only to see Walker push the ball to the back of the net for the 1-0 lead.

New England would strike again six minutes later when Luke Vercollone collected a ball near midfield and fed the ball to Khano Smith, who made a nice move on Clarence Goodson and then drilled a shot to the lower left corner of Scott Garlick to give a 2-0 lead to his side in the 24th minute.

FC Dallas responded three minutes before half-time, when David Wagenfuhr sent a long cross from the left flank. The ball bounced in the center of the box to then found Philip Salyer, who nicely headed the ball to the upper left corner of Doug Warren to cut the lead to 2-1.

FC Dallas took control of the second half, creating dangerous attempts. Roberto Mina and Ramon Nunez had the best chances for FC Dallas, but were never able to find the equalizer. The win moves New England into a 4th place tie with the L.A. Galaxy.
