The Colorado Rapids Reserves scored two second-half goals and withstood a late Crew Reserves charge to hold onto a 2-1 win in a Reserve Division game Saturday night at Columbus Crew Stadium.
Guy Melamed scored on a free-kick in the 72nd minute to put Colorado ahead and then Luchi Gonzalez made it 2-0 in the 77th minute. Marcus Sagastume assisted on Gonzalez's goal.
The Crew cut the lead in half with a Marcus Storey goal in the 85th minute but was unable to get the equalizer. Eric Vasquez assisted on Storey's goal.
Today's game improved dropped Columbus to 3-1-1 in the reserve division, while the Rapids improved to 2-2-2.
