MLS Quote Sheet: Dallas Burn 2, Chicago Fire 0

CHICAGO FIRE HEAD COACH DAVE SARACHAN

On the result:

"We had a good start to the game and we had a few chances in the first half but, frankly, we were out-competed tonight. I'm not going to give the excuse that we were a tired team, but we played that way. I give (Dallas) credit. They were organized and put a lot into the game. They had a bye week and came in fresh and had a good game plan.

"It wasn't our sharpest night with the ball. The passing wasn't good enough or quick enough, yet we still had some chances in the game.

On the Fire's woes to start the season:
"It's rare that we have a performance like that at home, but it's been a little bit of a tough stretch. We're just going to have to get through it."

On the physical nature of the match:
"The referee let things go, fair enough. I don't think we matched the physical play of Dallas, and I didn't think we matched their competitiveness."

CHICAGO FIRE DEFENDER C.J. BROWN
On the Fire's performance:

"It was terrible. Probably the poorest soccer we've ever played. That's all you can really say about it. There's no excuses - the field was nice, the night was nice, the players were terrible from top to bottom."

On whether fatigue was an issue:
"That's not an excuse. We've played enough, we should be able to handle that."

CHICAGO FIRE CAPTAIN CHRIS ARMAS
On the play of his squad:
"It was atrocious. We let down our fans and, most importantly, we let down ourselves. It was the home opener tonight and we had a good opportunity. This is very disappointing."

"We just weren't sharp all game. Give Dallas credit, they came in here and battled. We had a couple of chances and they had a couple of chances. They score a couple of goals and we don't score. We've got to start finishing our chances and today we gave them two goals that we shouldn't have allowed."

DALLAS BURN HEAD COACH COLIN CLARKE
On the result:

"What a strong performance from the boys. Any time you go on the road and get a result, especially against a rival, it's a good thing. They totally deserved it. We survived some early pressure, settled down and then were able to knock it around and take them out of their game a bit."

On Bobby Rhine scoring on his first touch for the second consecutive game:
"I'm going to keep him on the bench at that rate. We're never starting him again. Actually, he's been great for us. He's a hard worker and brings it every single day and right now he's playing with a lot of confidence."

DALLAS BURN FORWARD BOBBY RHINE
On the result:

"We were really tough to play against tonight. Rarely were they able to put five, six passes together because we were defending great as a unit. This is a team that really believes in one another and you could see tonight that it's a very disciplined unit. The mentality this year is totally different. It's all about team before individuals."

DALLAS BURN FORWARD EDDIE JOHNSON
On his goal:

"It was just a great ball from Ronnie. Ronnie and I really seem to be on the same page right now. I always know what he's going to do and he always plays the good ball. It felt great to get the early goal and then it was just an overall good performance by our team."

DALLAS BURN MIDFIELDER RONNIE O'BRIEN
On his fitness:

"I felt great out there tonight. I've had a hip problem but this week off seemed to do wonders for it. We really worked hard as a team tonight and were very hard to break down."
