MetroStars launch online auction to benefit victims of Hurricane Katrina

SECAUCUS, N.J. - The MetroStars announced today that the team has launched an online auction for 11 individual "MetroStars Experiences" as part of their efforts to aid the victims of Hurricane Katrina. These experiences can be found right here. All proceeds from the auctions will go towards the American Red Cross' Hurricane Katrina relief efforts.


The following "MetroStars Experiences" will be part of the auctions, which begin on Wednesday, September 7 at 2:30 p.m. ET and expire on Wednesday, September 14 at 7:00 p.m ET:


-Accompanying the team to an away game (New England on September 24 OR D.C. on October 8). This package is for two guests and includes two (2) tickets to the game, transportation on the team bus and lodging in the team hotel.


  • Two tickets and pre-game field passes to the New York Giants home game versus the Philadelphia Eagles game on Sunday, November 20 with defender Jeff Parke.

  • All-inclusive saltwater fishing expedition with goalkeeper Zach Wells and Captain Anthony Grassi of Finchaser Charters.


  • A Giovanni Savarese game-worn Venezuelan National Team jersey in which he scored a goal in Venezuela's 4-2 victory over Bolivia in World Cup Qualifying in 2002.


  • Round of golf with defender Chris Leitch at Manasquan River Golf Club in Rielle, New Jersey.

  • Drum lessons in the MetroStars locker room with defender Carlos Mendes.

  • One-hour instructional training session (individual or team) with defender Tim Regan.

  • All-inclusive fly-fishing trip with goalkeeper Tony Meola and guide Paul Hritz of Outcast Fishing Adventures.

  • One-hour instructional training session (individual or team) with head coach Bob Bradley.


  • Two tickets to a 2005 New Jersey Devils game with midfielder Mark Lisi.

  • Bowling for two with midfielder Michael Bradley and defender Tim Ward.
