Ibrahim undergoes successful knee surgery

SECAUCUS, N.J. - Eighteen-year-old forward Abbe Ibrahim had successful surgery to repair a tear in his left lateral meniscus (left knee) today. The MetroStars Head Team Physician, Dr. Edward Decter, performed the surgery at the St. Barnabas Ambulatory Care Center. Ibrahim is expected to need 3-5 weeks to recover.

Ibrahim injured his knee during the May 21 match with the Revolution and was initially diagnosed with a left knee sprain. He received extensive treatment during this time period and was able to play. However, after the pain persisted, the MetroStars medical staff sent Ibrahim for a Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) exam on Thursday, June 16 and a tear was revealed.

In eight appearances (four starts) this season, Ibrahim has notched two goals and three assists.
