Houston 1836 head coach to oversee four players during scrimmage

HOUSTON, TX - Houston 1836 Head Coach Dominic Kinnear will take a second look at four players that initially tried out at Delmar Stadium along with nearly 100 players affiliated to different Houston leagues.

Today a little over 30 players affiliated with different local leagues; such as "Escuela Cruz Azul", "Deportivo Pereira", STYSA (South Texas Youth Soccer Association), and HFA (Houston Football Association), took part in the invitation-only tryouts conducted this morning at the San Jacinto College South campus.

Kinnear observed all players for about an hour and a half or so, and at the end invited only four back for a scrimmage this Tuesday February 21, against San Jacinto College.

"I liked the way the played. We are going to take another look at them", said Kinnear.

"They have good technical ability; but physically they are not in the best shape," said.

Kinnear will take a second look at the four players that caught his attention to join in for a scrimmage this Tuesday at 3:30 pm, at the San Jacinto College-South Campus, located at 13735 Beamer Rd.

The tryouts were conducted in order to possibly fill two developmental squad positions.

"I am giving them another chance, but we are not here to promise", said Kinnear.

Houston 1836 will travel to Austin on Saturday February 25 to face Real Salt Lake.
