Guevara undergoes successful surgery

SECAUCUS, NJ - MetroStars team captain Amado Guevara had successful surgery to repair a complex tear in his left medial meniscus (left knee) today. The MetroStars Head Team Physician, Dr. Edward Decter, performed the surgery at the St. Barnabas Ambulatory Care Center. Guevara is expected to need 3-5 weeks to recover.

Guevara injured his knee during the July 16 match with the Colorado Rapids after a hard tackle in the 87th minute.

MLS' reigning Most Valuable Player, Guevara leads the MetroStars in both goals and assists (six apiece) this season and was named a starter in the 2005 Sierra Mist All-Star Game.
