Major League Soccer's Disciplinary Committee announced Thursday that San Jose Earthquakes forward Landon Donovan has been suspended for Saturday's home game against D.C. United and fined $1,000 for post-game dissent following his team's 2-2 draw with the New England Revolution at Spartan Stadium on July 24.
The MLS Disciplinary Committee also fined Earthquakes defender Troy Dayak $500 for his failure to leave the field in an orderly fashion following his ejection from the same game. Kansas City Wizards defender Jimmy Conrad was notified of his $200 fine for demonstrating a lack of respect for the game during his 73rd-minute scuffle with Los Angeles forward Carlos Ruiz during the teams' 2-2 draw on July 24.
Also on July 24, Chicago Fire assistant coach Denis Hamlett encroached the referee secure area at the conclusion of his team's 2-1 home loss to the MetroStars, resulting in a $250 fine. Columbus Crew goalkeeper Jon Busch was fined $250 for his public criticism of the referee following the Crew's 2-1 home loss to the Chicago Fire in the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup Quarterfinals on July 20.
The upcoming round of MLS regular season action, the 19th weekend of the year, features a slate of three games on Saturday and one on Sunday; Chicago and Kansas City have the weekend off. </p>
