Celebrating 10 seasons of MLS

The 2005 Major League Soccer season gets started Friday with the annual MLS SuperDraft presented by adidas, kicking off a celebration of the league's 10th season that will last through November's MLS Cup Final.

The league will celebrate its milestone in a myriad of ways throughout the upcoming campaign, with features including a special 10th season logo, fan contests and special merchandise.

MLS has already unveiled the logo, which is featured on MLSnet.com, the league's official website. Other commemorative graphics of the milestone include team uniform patches, and special signage and decorations that will adorn MLS stadiums during matches throughout the season.

The league will invite fans to join in the celebration at matches and online. As the league hosts in-stadium events around the country, MLSnet.com will offer online sweepstakes in which fans will be able to win tickets. The website will introduce online polls in which fans will decide some of the greatest moments and events in MLS history. Fans will also be able to buy special 10th season merchandise, which will be available exclusively at the league's online store, MLSgear.com.

The celebration will extend to the league's weekly national TV broadcasts, as well. Each week, the league's broadcast partners will present a look back at the history of the league and the greatest moments.

The festivities will culminate with the crowning of the league's 10th champion at MLS Cup 2005 in Frisco, Texas, the new home of FC Dallas. The title game will be held on Sunday, Nov. 13.
