Young Bulls set to charge into Super Y-League Finals

SECAUCUS, N.J. - Building on being ranked the top Boys Youth Academy by the United Soccer League for the second-straight year, three New York Red Bulls youth teams are ready to strut their stuff over the next few days in the USL Super Y-League North American Finals in Tampa, FL which runs from Friday, November 17 to Tuesday, November 21.

One of the marquee match-ups of the tournament will be when the Red Bulls' U-17 team, which won the national title last year in the U-16 division, takes on Kendall SC in Group B on Saturday, November 18 starting at 7:00 p.m. ET. The game is a rematch of the Men's Super-20 Final, which Kendall SC prevailed after a seven-round shootout. The match will be televised on Fox Soccer Channel on December 2 at 5:00 p.m. ET.

"A nationally televised match is important because we want people to see what Major League Soccer is doing for youth development," Red Bulls Director of Youth Soccer and former player Giovanni Savarese said. "The Super Y-League is a nationwide league getting better and better each year."

The Red Bulls finished the season with a record of 13-1-1 in the Mid Atlantic region, while Kendall finished at 6-1-2 in the Southeast region. Both teams garnered the top seeds out of their respective regions. Victoria United and San Francisco United SC round out the four-team group.

"Playing against West Kendall is great competition for us and the more competitive games we play, the more our players will develop," Savarese said.

Along with the U-17 team, New York will also be sending their U-14 and U-15 teams to Tampa to compete. The U-14 will play in Group C, along with the Atlanta Silverbacks, Seacoast United and Kendall SC. Meanwhile, for the second-straight year, the New York U-15s will head to the finals. They will face Kendall SC, Juventus and Spokane Shadow in group play.

This year marks the first time New York will send three youth teams to the Super Y-League Finals.
