Women's World Cup: USWNT's victory over Colombia sets ratings record for FOX Sports 1

The US women’s national team’s Round-of-16 victory over Colombia on Monday may not have been, for experienced national-team fans, easy on the eyes.

But there certainly were a lot of eyes watching.

According to Nielsen, the match attracted 4.7 million viewers on FOX Sports 1 to beat the network's previous high-water mark of this year’s tournament of 3.3 million for the US-Australia match in the group stage. That makes US-Colombia the most-watched soccer match on cable since last year’s FIFA World Cup.

The match now ranks as the third most-watched telecast in FOX Sports 1’s history, trailing only Game 4 (5.1 million) and Game 5 (4.9 million) of the 2014 Major League Baseball National League Championship Series.

It was also the most watched telecast in FOX Sports 1 history among adults ages 18-49, with 2.3 million viewers, besting a UFC fight Jan. 18 earlier this year that drew 1.7 million viewers.

The webcast on FOX Sports GO also drew more than 120,000 streaming views, making it the highest-viewed simulcast in the app’s history.
