NEW YORK (Monday, November 2, 2026) – Vancouver Whitecaps FC forward Brian White was voted the Major League Soccer Player of the Matchday presented by Michelob ULTRA for Matchday 34 of the 2026 MLS season.
White scored twice for the Whitecaps in a dominant 5-1 victory over Cascadia Cup rivals Seattle Sounders FC (Watch Highlights From His Performance Here). The brace was White’s sixth multi-goal performance of the year and took him to 20 regular-season goals in 2026. Among all MLS players in the 2026 regular season, White ranks third in goals (20), is tied for first in multi-goal games (six), and ranks fourth in goals per 90 minutes (0.70). His 20 goals are two shy of the Whitecaps’ single-season MLS record, held by Camilo Sanvezzo (22 in 2013). After his multi-goal performance, White became the first player in the club’s MLS era to score 100 goals for the Whitecaps across all competitions.
White opened the scoring just 56 seconds into the match when Ryan Gauld found Bruno Caicedo, who chipped a cross to the back post that White headed into the top corner. (Watch Here). Vancouver continued to score in the first half with goals from Gauld and MathÃas Laborda to bring their advantage to 3-0 at halftime. White then scored his 20th goal of the regular season in the 53rd minute as, once again, Caicedo drove down the left side of the defense and found White, whose one-timed finish nestled into the bottom corner of the net (Watch Here).
White becomes the first Vancouver Whitecaps FC player to be named MLS Player of the Matchday in 2026, and the first since Sebastian Berhalter on Matchday 38 in 2025. White has won the award four times in his Vancouver Whitecaps FC career, one fewer than Camilo Sanvezzo (five), who holds the club record.
White and Vancouver will aim to close out the season with a victory on Decision Day when they face CF Montréal at Stade Saputo on Saturday, November 7 (4 p.m. ET, MLS on Apple TV).
The MLS Player of the Matchday presented by Michelob ULTRA is selected each matchday of the regular season through both media and fan voting in a process conducted by MLS Communications. A panel of journalists from the North American Soccer Reporters (NASR) comprises 75 percent of the vote, while an Instagram fan vote represents the remaining 25 percent of voting. NASR consists of members of print, television, radio, and online media.
