USMNT: Injury scare for Jurgen Klinsmann as Jozy Altidore misses Sunderland match with hamstring injury

Deep breaths, US national team fans.

With just days left until the Americans travel to San Jose for a massive World Cup qualifier against Costa Rica on Sept. 6 and host Mexico four days later, it seems Jurgen Klinsmann may have a lineup hole to fill as striker Jozy Altidore was held out of Sunderland's game on Saturday against Crystal Palace with a hamstring injury.

A U.S. Soccer spokesman told MLSsoccer.com on Saturday that Altidore will still report to USMNT camp despite the reported injury and will be evaluated at that time.

Altidore has scored in five straight matches for the US, including notching a hat trick against Bosnia in a 4-3 road win in the team's last match, and was recently called the Americans' "moneymaker" by Tim Howard.

The US are currently riding a 12-match winning streak that began on June 2 with a 4-3 victory against Germany. The US have won three straight Hex matches to move into sole control of first place with 13 points from six games. They also won six consecutive matches en route to a Gold Cup title this summer.
