It’s been a big couple of weeks for Stuart Holden.


On the heels of his appearance in US national team camp, having been invited after a string of serious injuries had kept him away from the field since 2013, the former Houston Dynamo star welcomed the birth of a daughter Tuesday along with his wife Karalyn West.

After his latest injury, suffered with Bolton’s reserve squad in 2014, Holden has embarked on a career as a broadcaster for ESPN and FOX Sports as he continued to train in an effort to return to the pitch. This winter he trained in California with a group of MLS players that included Benny Feilhaber and Dom Dwyer of Sporting Kansas City, the New York Red Bulls' Sacha KljestanServando Carrasco of Orlando City, the LA Galaxy's AJ DeLaGarzaHector Jimenez of Columbus Crew SC, and D.C. United's Steve Birnbaum.
