US national team head coach Gregg Berhalter has trimmed his roster to 22 players ahead of the February 1 match against Costa Rica at Dignity Health Sports Park in Carson, Calif. (3:55 pm ET on ESPNews, UniMás, TUDN).

In addition to Paxton Pomykal's return to FC Dallas earlier this month, the other three players released to rejoin their MLS clubs for preseason were: Jordan Morris (Seattle Sounders), Cristian Roldan (Seattle Sounders) and JT Marcinkowski (San Jose Earthquakes).

Morris, Roldan and the Sounders are preparing for the Concacaf Champions League Round of 16 which will see them face off against Olimpia of Honduras over two legs beginning on February 20.

Berhalter started the USMNT's annual January camp with 25 players at IMG Academy in Bradenton, Fla. after a trip to Doha, Qatar was cancelled due to unrest in the region. FC Dallas Brandon Servania was subsequently added to the roster.

The 22-player squad will depart Bradenton for Los Angeles for a week of training before the match on February 1.
