FC Dallas midfielder Paxton Pomykal departs US national team camp

FC Dallas midfielder Paxton Pomykal has departed US national team camp to focus on injury rehabilitation, the club announced Thursday. The decision was a collaborative effort between both the FCD and US Soccer medical staffs.

Pomykal underwent groin surgery on October 31

The 19-year-old enjoyed a breakout 2019 campaign in which he starred for Dallas as well as the US national team at the U-20 World Cup before earning his senior USMNT debut. In MLS, he started 20 matches, adding two goals and five assists.

Pomykal will not be replaced on the roster, which now sits at 25 players. Teammate Brandon Servania was a late addition to the training camp, which culminates with a match against Costa Rica on February 1.
