Just two days after MLSsoccer.com revealed that DeAndre Yedlin's UK work permit was approved, English Premier League side Tottenham Hotspur confirmed that the Seattle Sounders star right back will be "joining the club in January."

The 21-year-old Sounders Homegrown player, who left an impression with the USMNT at the 2014 World Cup, was officially transferred to Tottenham in August for a lucrative fee, but it was unclear when exactly he would join his new team.

"DeAndre is a young player with great potential who has already achieved a lot in Major League Soccer," Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino told TottenhamHotspur.com about the reigning US Soccer Young Male Athlete of the Year. "It is important for his development that he is given the time to adapt to his new surroundings both on and off the pitch and we believe that by coming to us in January it will give him the best opportunity to do so."

Yedlin's MLS campaign ended back on November 30, when the Sounders were ousted in the Western Conference Championship by eventual MLS Cup champions LA Galaxy.

He started 25 regular season matches for his hometown side in 2014, following up a 2013 breakout rookie season which saw him make 31 appearances and earn a trip to the AT&T MLS All-Star Game.
