Several MLS players called up to US U-20 roster for Dallas Cup

US Under-20 national team coach Tab Ramos has announced a 22-player roster for the upcoming Dallas Cup, and the roster features considerable MLS influence.

Current MLS pros Tommy Redding (Orlando City), Victor Mansaray (Seattle Sounders, pictured above) and Danilo Acosta (Real Salt Lake) are among the selections for the tournament, in which the US will play Mexican club Monterrey, English side Fulham and German team Hoffenheim in group play. Their slate will begin March 20.

Another MLS pro who made the roster, Real Salt Lake's Sebastian Saucedo, is currently on loan at Mexican team Veracruz. An additional eight players who are currently playing college soccer have recent ties to MLS academies.

The US Soccer release on the roster cited the Dallas Cup as the first step for the U-20s in building the squad for the 2017 CONCACAF U-20 Championship, which serves as qualifying for the 2017 U-20 World Cup.
