Revolution 2, Wizards 0 -- quote sheet

NEW ENGLAND REVOLUTION 2, KANSAS CITY WIZARDS 0

NEW ENGLAND HEAD COACH STEVE NICOL

On the result:
"It's a fantastic three points. It's tough place to come and win. It's a tough place to come and get anything but to come here and win, it's a great result."

On the Revolution's defensive adjustments in the second half:
"Marshall (Leonard) did a great job in the second half of shutting that down. Obviously, in the first half it was causing us problems. But he rectified that and good on him."

On the overall defensive effort:
"Like everything else, you need good saves, you need a wee bit of luck and good defense in front of you and tonight we had all those things."

NEW ENGLAND GOALKEEPER MATT REIS

On the second half:
"In the second half we made a conscious effort to eliminate (Chris) Klein and make (Nick) Garcia beat us. I think that worked out and later in the game we moved (Steve) Ralston over on (Klein) and it just shut him down completely."

On his save on Josh Wolff late in the first half:
"It was a great ball whipped in by (Chris) Klein. Wolff made a great run and got in front of somebody. I stepped to go get and then, knowing I wasn't going to get it, I just kind of dove in front of it and he hit it off of me."

NEW ENGLAND FORWARD PAT NOONAN

On his goal:
"It was a good buildup, it was a good combination getting the ball out wide to (Steve Ralston) and he had a nice ball inside to Shalrie (Joseph) and he had a great no-look pass, one-touch, to put into space and I was able to lift it over Bo (Oshoniyi)."

On managing the lead:
"In the second half we were able to get the goal early and get some decent chances. Towards the end of the game we sat back more and played in more of a defensive shape to keep them off the board and it worked out for us."

NEW ENGLAND MIDFIELDER STEVE RALSTON

On being back with the Revolution:
"It's great. I'm glad to be back with the guys. I was pretty tired tonight after three games in a week and all the travel but I was just happy to be able to be there with the guys again and be able to play."

KANSAS CITY WIZARDS HEAD COACH BOB GANSLER

On the game:
"We weren't alert coming out in the first half and we weren't alert coming out in the second half. Looking at the goals, they came at eight and 49 (minute marks). We play 45-minute halves and they start when the referee blows the whistle. That is to our discredit. We created enough chances to win this thing, but we didn't put them away. We need to execute in order to put those in. It was a winnable game, but they won it. Give them credit."

KANSAS CITY WIZARDS DEFENDER JIMMY CONRAD

On the game:
"The first goal was a lack of recognizing danger, and turned into an own goal. At 1-0, it's a wide open game and we got a lot of chances, but when they got that second goal they knew that could just sit back and it was hard for us to find space. That second one killed us. It was the little things. That has been the thing for us all season, we have been playing solid but when we give up the little things we are just getting punished for it."
