According to reports, Austin FC know who their first MLS head coach will be.

Per Sam Stejskal and Paul Tenorio of The Athletic, US men's national team assistant coach Josh Wolff is "widely expected" to become the club's inaugural head coach ahead of its joining the league in 2021, per multiple sources.

“As Austin FC continues to grow there will be many important announcements from our club, and we will not have further comment at this time,” an Austin FC spokesperson told The Athletic.

Wolff, 42, was also reported to be a candidate for the open head coach position at the Colorado Rapids.

A standout striker for the US from 1999-2008, Wolff played on the 2002 and 2006 World Cup teams after making his name with the Chicago Fire and Kansas City Wizards. He finished his playing career with D.C. United in 2012 and worked on Ben Olsen’s staff in the capital city before moving west to join Gregg Berhalter at Crew SC ahead of the 2014 MLS season. He stayed with Berhalter in Columbus before following him to the US national team in December 2018.
