Report: FC Dallas' Mauro Diaz likely to miss Portland match

Mauro Diaz - FC Dallas

Mauro Diaz isn’t expected to return to action when FC Dallas takes on the Portland Timbers at Providence Park on Wednesday night (10:30 pm ET; MLS LIVE), according to The Dallas Morning News.

Diaz has missed FCD’s last two matches due to a hamstring injury.

The Argentine playmaker has one goal and four assists in four games this year, and is hugely important for FC Dallas. Since he joined the team midway through the 2013 season, FCD is 29-17-9 with an average of 1.7 goals per game in the 55 regular season games Diaz has played, and just 11-13-8 with a 1.4 goals per game average in the 32 that he’s missed.

Diaz's status also has a massive impact on MLS fantasy: You might want to consider swapping him out this week due to his injury. Sporting Kansas City’s Benny Feilhaber, Portland’s Diego Valeri and the New York Red Bulls’ Sacha Kljestan will all play twice during Week 7, and should be viable replacements for anyone looking to move Diaz.
