One of the most dynamic playmakers in MLS, Diaz will begin the 2017 campaign on the shelf as he recovers from an Achilles injury suffered in the penultimate game of the 2016 regular season. Prior to his injury, he had logged a single-season career best in games played (27), minutes (2,149) and assists (13). He was also a crucial component in FCD's Supporters' Shield/US Open Cup double.
After chronic injuries limited him to 27 appearances in his first eighteen months in MLS, he became a consistent contributor in 2015, bagging eight goals and 10 assists in an impressive campaign. A classic No. 10, the Argentine has earned the nickname "The Little Unicorn" for his ability to conjure up the impossibly beautiful.

OUTSIDE MLS: Made his first-team debut for River Plate at the age of 17 and went on to make 69 league appearances for the storied Argentine club. Also spent two seasons on loan with Chile's Union Española.
