RED BULLS’ CLARK CONFIRMING PLACE IN YOUNG GOALSCORING HISTORY

Caden Clark of the New York Red Bulls is continuing to burnish his legacy as one of finest young goalscorers in MLS history. Still a couple of weeks away from his 18th birthday, Clark scored the fifth goal of his MLS career last Saturday in a 2-0 win against Chicago Fire FC at Soldier Field, a second consecutive game with a goal.

Clark is now tied for the sixth-most goals by a player before their 18th birthday in MLS history, according to the Elias Sports Bureau, and the most since Alphonso Davies scored eight goals while still under the age of majority with Vancouver Whitecaps FC from 2016-18.

Clark was already the fifth-youngest player to score on his MLS debut (and the 19th-youngest overall in league history), netting in his first game for the Red Bulls last Oct. 10 vs. Atlanta, then became the youngest player in league history to score in his first two games when he hit the back of the net Oct. 14 vs. Toronto FC.

Clark will have two more chances to add to his total before turning 18 on May 27 – the Red Bulls play at the Philadelphia Union on Saturday, then at the New England Revolution on May 22.
