The New York Red Bulls secured the long-term services of two important contributors on Friday, announcing that winger Lloyd Sam has signed a contract extension while the playing rights to on-loan defender Ambroise Oyongo have been acquired on permanent basis from Rainbow FC Bamenda.

"Lloyd has been a key player for this club the past few seasons and we're very excited to have him in a Red Bull uniform for the coming years," Red Bulls sporting director Ali Curtis said in a statement. "Lloyd is a very dynamic player on the wing and provides a great attacking threat for us."

Sam's 32 starts in 2014 led all New York field players and his 32 overall appearances were tied for second with Bradley Wright-Phillips. The Englishman scored four goals and also added nine assists, tied for second-most on the team.

Oyongo made 13 appearances on loan in 2014, including 11 starts, at both left back and left midfield. The 23-year-old Cameroonian recorded three assists in his first season in MLS, and also appeared in all five playoff games (two starts) for New York and recorded one assist.

"Ambroise is a promising and versatile young player that adds value at multiple positions and showed he has the ability to defend and get forward in the attack," said Curtis.
