New Atlas coach Dario Franco is confident of improving his new side's fortunes following his appointment on Friday.
The Argentinian replaced his compatriot Miguel Brindisi, who was sacked on Thursday with the team bottom of the overall table with five points.
Franco told a press conference: "I am happy for this new chance. It is a dream to be here as coach, but the most important objective is to overcome this situation and I am confident that we are going to make it.
"We need to work, to be together, focus and also have a big commitment with this project.
"I consider that we have a good squad, with young, but talented and experienced members."
Atlas axe Brindisi after poor results
GUADALAJARA -- Atlas have sacked their coach Miguel Angel Brindisi following a string of poor results.
The 57-year-old Argentinian was fired as the Guadalajara side have picked up just five points this season to prop up the Apertura table with Pachuca and Jaguares.
Earlier this year, Brindisi led Atlas to the Copa Libertadores quarter-finals before they were eliminated by Boca Juniors, but poor form in the local league has led to his dismissal.
"On Tuesday (the club co-ordinator) Claudio Vivas gave me a message from the board who asked me to hand in my resignation and I didn't want to cause any trouble," said Brindisi, who played at the 1974 World Cup with Argentina.
"I came to a house where I met a lot of friends and that is the biggest treasure I could take.
"I came from Buenos Aires just to shake hands with the president (Fernando) Acosta to thank him. I can only say 'thank you' to the board and Claudio Vivas, who recommended me as well as all the club employees."
