Major League Soccer Becomes First Professional Sports Organization to Sign a Bored Ape to a Contract

New York, N.Y (August 5, 2022) – Major League Soccer in collaboration with ge3, a division of Get Engaged, announced today that the League has signed Striker, a Bored Ape, to a professional contract. The deal marks the first digital athlete to sign with a professional sports organization.

“I’m extremely excited to join Major League Soccer, the fastest growing sports league in North America,” Striker said. “In a League with players from more than 82 countries, it is an honor to be the first digital athlete. I can’t wait to get on the virtual pitch.”

Striker has been tapped as a rising star on the virtual pitch. He joins the League in advance of next week’s highly anticipated MLS All-Star Game presented by Target on Aug. 10 and is the latest member of the League’s All-Star roster – having a special position on the virtual pitch.
