TRANSFER TRACKER STATUS: Signing
The LA Galaxy have acquired defender Lucas Calegari from Turkish Süper Lig side Eyüpspor, the club announced Thursday.
The 24-year-old former Brazilian youth international is under contract through June 2029.
Calegari previously played for LA on loan in 2023, recording two assists in 27 appearances. He was crowned Galaxy Defender of the Year despite tearing his ACL.
A Fluminense youth product, Calegari has produced 2g/7a in 131 matches for the Brazilian Série A club, Eyüpspor and Portuguese top-flight side FC Famalicão.
"Lucas made a great impact during his first stint with the LA Galaxy, and we are excited to welcome him back to the club," said general manager Will Kuntz.
"He is a talented and versatile defender who knows our organization, our expectations and our supporters. At just 24 years old, Lucas already brings valuable experience from MLS, Brazil, Portugal and Turkey, and we believe he will be an important addition to our group as we continue building toward sustained success.”
Calegari is Galaxy's latest summer signing following Japanese international striker Kyōgo Furuhashi, Mexican international Hirving "Chucky" Lozano and FC Barcelona alum Sergi Roberto.
LA are 13th in the Western Conference, searching for a return to the Audi MLS Cup Playoffs for the first time since lifting the 2024 MLS Cup.
