Jonathan dos Santos shines for Mexico as MLSers compete on int'l stage

Outside of the league's players involved in the USMNT's 3-0 loss to Venezuela which has been covered at length on these channels, MLSers impressed once again as a busy summer slate of international soccer gets underway.


Jonathan dos Santos (LA Galaxy) starred for Mexico, scoring in his second consecutive appearance for El Tri. His latest finish was from distance, opening the scoring in Mexico's eventual 3-2 win over Ecuador at AT&T Stadium on Sunday. 

Elsewhere, Raul Ruidiaz (Seattle Sounders) came off the bench for Peru in his side's 3-0 friendly loss to Colombia. Peru were down to 10 men for most of the second half, following a red card to former MLSer Yoshi Yotun.


Jukka Raitala (Montreal Impact) and Rasmus Schuller (Minnesota United) both entered from the bench for Finland in their big 2-0 victory over Bosnia & Herzegovina in a European Championship qualifying match. 


Romell Quioto (Houston Dynamo) received a red card amid Honduras' 7-0 loss to Brazil, where Alberth Elis (Dynamo), Maynor Figueroa (Dynamo) and Bryan Acosta (FC Dallas) joined him in the starting XI. 

Darwin Ceren (Dynamo) played 90 minutes for El Salvador in his country's 2-0 loss to Japan, where Andres Flores (Portland Timbers) made a cameo off the bench.
