Save of the Week

Houston Dynamo's Joe Willis wins Save of the Week for Week 32/33

Erik Friberg surely thought he had a goal, but Joe Willis made sure that was not in the cards.

Willis won the combined Week 32/33 MLS Save of the Week presented by Phillips 66 Lubricants for his remarkable double save in the Houston Dynamo's scoreless draw with the Seattle Sounders on Oct. 12.

Willis pulled off the incredible pair of stops in the 40th minute, denying Friberg on a 1-on-1 chance in front of goal before scrambling back to get a fingertip on the rebounded effort from a tight angle.

The Dynamo goalkeeper beat out New England Revolution goalkeeper Brad Knighton in the final round of voting by a wide margin. Willis earned just north of 64 percent of the vote, while Knighton collected nearly 36 percent.
