DC United's Yamil Asad wins Week 4 AT&T MLS Goal of the Week award

Yamil Asad’s 30th-minute goal that silenced the crowd at MAPFRE Stadium and tied the game for D.C. United and also earned the young Argentine midfielder the Week 4 AT&T MLS Goal of the Week award.


Asad received a ball cut back from Luciano Acosta and took a settling touch before slipping his shot from 19 yards out past a frozen Jon Kempin and inside the left post. Asad’s second goal of the year scooped up 52 percent of the vote.


Sebastian Blanco equalizer for the Portland Timbers two minutes into the second half, a left-footed stunner from the edge of the box into the side netting was second with 33 percent of the vote.


A cheeky chip from New York Red Bulls talisman Bradley Wright-Phillips was third (10%), followed by Diego Rubio’s stoppage-time equalizer off a backheel from Khiry Shelton (4%) for Sporting Kansas City and Diego Fagundez’s slick turn and finish off the post (1%) that put the New England Revolution in front early against New York City FC.
