Crew Reserves defeat Revs 1-0

COLUMBUS - The Columbus Crew Reserve Squad defeated the New England Reserves 1-0 Sunday morning at Crew Stadium. Sunday's win is the Crew's first in MLS Reserve Division play this season. The Crew Reserves are now 1-2-1 on the season, while the Revolution now drops to 0-3-1.

Emmanuel Ekpo got the Crew attack started early, as he dribbled up the right channel and dished to the right to George Josten. Josten maneuvered down the right side of the box and got off a low cross into the area, where a streaking Jason Garey one-timed the ball into the back of the net to give the Crew the only goal it would need.

Columbus subbed liberally throughout the remainder of the match, in preparation for its U.S. Open Cup Qualifier vs. Real Salt Lake on Tuesday, while the Revs were left with a shorthanded bench - due to injury - forcing its starters to go the full 90 minutes.

The Crew would maintain the majority of possession in the match, although the Revs were able to mount several attacking opportunities on the offensive end. New England goalkeeper Doug Warren was able to keep the visitors close, with four saves in the second half.

The Columbus Crew Reserves next see action on Sunday, June 15, when they take on the Kansas City Wizards at 11 a.m. on the road. The Revs' Reserve Squad returns to action this Friday (May 30) at D.C. United at 10 a.m.
