Commissioner Garber reduces Dempsey suspension

NEW YORK - Major League Soccer Commissioner Don Garber today upheld the $750 fine imposed on Clint Dempsey and reduced the suspension handed down to the New England Revolution midfielder from two games to one game. The one game suspension will be served tonight when the Revolution host Real Salt Lake.


On Thursday, July 13, the MLS Disciplinary Committee suspended Dempsey for two games and fined him $750 for violent conduct against Chicago Fire defender Gonzalo Segares, which occurred in the 31st minute of the Revolution's 2-1 win at TOYOTA PARK on July 8.


Dempsey, his agent Dan Segal, and MLS Player's Union representatives Bob Foose and Jon Newman participated in the appeal with Commissioner Garber which was held via teleconference on Friday afternoon.
