NEW YORK (Monday, October 26, 2026) – Columbus Crew midfielder Dylan Chambost was voted the Major League Soccer Player of the Matchday presented by Michelob ULTRA for Matchday 32 of the 2026 MLS season.
Chambost provided three assists in the Columbus Crew’s 4-2 victory over Toronto FC at ScottsMiracle-Gro Field on Saturday afternoon (Watch Highlights From His Performance Here). Chambost became the sixth player in club history to produce at least three assists in a regular season game, and the first since Alexandru Mățan did so on March 25, 2023. His three assists are also tied for the second-most in an MLS regular-season match this season. On the season, the French midfielder is now up to seven assists, which is just one shy of his previous single-season high (eight in 2025). The Crew’s victory was crucial as they jumped to No. 10 in the Eastern Conference with 38 points (11-15-5) and sit one point behind Red Bull New York for the final Audi MLS Cup Playoffs spot (39 points, 11-14-6).
After Columbus opened the scoring in the 16th minute, the Crew doubled the advantage five minutes later when Chambost curled in a corner kick that Malte Amundsen headed in from close range (Watch Here). Following halftime, Chambost dazzled again from a set piece, receiving a pass from Santiago RodrÃguez off a corner kick and picking out Amundsen once more for a simple finish (Watch Here). The Frenchman then added his third assist of the match on the Crew’s fourth goal when he selflessly laid off a pass to Brooks Lennon in the 59th minute, and Lennon found the back of the net with the Toronto defense scrambling (Watch Here).
Chambost is the second consecutive French player to be named MLS Player of the Matchday, following Orlando City SC’s Antoine Griezmann taking home the honor on Matchday 31. It is the first time Chambost has earned the honor in his career, and he is the first Crew player to win the award since Cucho Hernández in 2024 (Matchday 37).
Chambost and Columbus continue to push for an Audi MLS Cup Playoffs spot when they travel to face FC Dallas at Toyota Stadium on Wednesday, October 28 (8:30 p.m. ET, MLS on Apple TV).
The MLS Player of the Matchday presented by Michelob ULTRA is selected each matchday of the regular season through both media and fan voting in a process conducted by MLS Communications. A panel of journalists from the North American Soccer Reporters (NASR) comprises 75 percent of the vote, while an Instagram fan vote represents the remaining 25 percent of voting. NASR consists of members of print, television, radio, and online media.
