Chivas USA present W Radio 690 AM as team's Spanish-language broadcast partner

CARSON, Calif. - Club Deportivo Chivas USA presented Wednesday, W Radio 690 AM, Southern California's all Spanish-language news, talk, sports and entertainment station and one of the most powerful AM radio signals in all of the western United States, as the fourth-year Major League Soccer club's official Spanish-language broadcast partner. W Radio (XEWW 690 AM) will broadcast all 30 of Chivas USA's regular-season games during the 2008 MLS campaign - which kicks off on March 30 at FC Dallas - as well as Chivas USA's new weekly radio show, 'Pasión Chivas USA', Thursdays from 6 to 7 p.m. PT.

"Thanks to our new our partnership with W Radio, soccer fans from Tijuana to the San Joaquin Valley can follow all of Chivas USA's radio broadcasts, week in and week out," said Chivas USA President and CEO Shawn Hunter. "As our club continues to grow, I can think of no better way to invite fans to celebrate the passion of Chivas USA than by broadcasting our games on 690 AM, Southern California's most powerful radio network."

The deal, whose terms were not disclosed, brings Chivas USA and Mexican parent club Chivas de Guadalajara under the same roof in 2008, since Grupo Latino de Radio, W Radio's parent company, will be the official home for Mexico's most popular club starting in August with Guadalajara's Apertura 2008 campaign. This adds to W Radio's already extensive sports portfolio, which includes Mexican First Division matches, as well as the afternoon drive time sports talk show, 'Bazar Deportivo', hosted by renowned personalities Samuel Jacobo and Karina Vazquez, Monday to Friday from 3-6 p.m. PT.

"Signing with Chivas USA makes sense for both the radio station and Chivas soccer. Since we started W Radio 690 AM we have provided live soccer to our listeners and feel we have accomplished to be the choice for live soccer in Southern California," said Juan Pablo Alvarez, CEO of GLR North America. "Now we are giving our soccer audience a choice of two very exciting teams, Chivas USA and Chivas de Guadalajara, and we are hopeful that once they tune in to an individual game they will stay for the next," added Alvarez.

All Chivas USA's 2008 matches, home and away, will be broadcast in the familiar voices of Hipólito Gamboa (Play-by-Play) and Rigoberto Cervantez (Analyst), featuring 30-minute pre- and post-game shows. The first broadcast will be Chivas USA's MLS First Kick match at FC Dallas, this Sunday, March 30 live from Pizza Hut Park in Frisco, Texas. The club's new weekly radio show, 'Pasión Chivas USA', will make its debut this Thursday, March 27 from 6 to 7 p.m. PT on 690 AM.

With a 77,500-watt broadcast stretching from Tijuana to the San Joaquin Valley and from the Pacific Ocean to Death Valley, W Radio has the most powerful signal in all of Southern California, giving Chivas USA fans throughout the Southland the opportunity to celebrate the passion of their team.

Chivas USA opens the 2008 MLS season on Sunday, March 30 against FC Dallas before returning to Los Angeles for the home opener against Real Salt Lake on Saturday, April 5, at The Home Depot Center.
