Carlos Vela misses Minnesota United FC match through injury

Carlos Vela - LAFC - action

LAFC star Carlos Vela has been left off the gameday roster for Sunday night's match against Minnesota United FC.

Vela, the frontrunner for the Landon Donovan MLS MVP award, was pulled out of last week's game against LA Galaxy in the second half after suffering a hamstring injury. He was listed as questionable prior to the match.

The forward leads MLS with 27 goals and is tied for second in the league with 15 assists. This will be the second match he will miss this season, with the other coming when he was rested on July 12. LAFC beat the Houston Dynamo 3-1 that night.

Without Vela, LAFC have opted for a front three of Diego Rossi, Adama Diomande and Brian Rodriguez. This will make Rodriguez's first MLS start, as the Young Designated Player made a 29-minute substitute appearance last week against the Galaxy.
