– The 2018
Campeones Cup
Match Officials, as well as the event’s competition guidelines were announced today, in anticipation of the inaugural battle between the reigning Liga MX and MLS champions -- Tigres UANL and Toronto FC -- this Wednesday, September 18, at 8:15 p.m. ET at BMO Field in Toronto. The match will air on Univision, UDN and ESPN2 in the United States, and on TSN1 and TVA Sports 2 in Canada.

MLS and Liga MX have collaborated with the region’s confederation, Concacaf, to appoint a world-class officiating crew from Costa Rica with experiences extending to the highest levels of the global game. Joining Referee

Each league’s club has submitted a roster based on its respective leagues’ regulations regarding player eligibility. The unique partnership will also be reflected on the sideline, as Liga MX and MLS will each provide a match commissioner for the match, and who will work together on any pertinent matters. The appointed match commissioners for the game will be Alfonso Mondelo (MLS) and Hector Canchola (Liga MX).

A post-game ceremony, awarding the recently-unveiled Campeones Cup Trophy, will immediately follow the conclusion of the match.
The
Campeones Cup
is a yearly event that is part of a larger, multi-year collaboration between MLS and Liga MX. The event is designed to bring fans from the U.S., Mexico and Canada together in a show of unity, while also fueling a rivalry between two of the world’s most competitive soccer leagues.
