American Exports: Edgar Castillo, Atlas defeat Morelia to maintain perfect Liga MX start

Edgar Castillo and his Atlas teammates celebrate a goal against Chivas

American left back Edgar Castillo went the full 90 minutes as Atlas made it two wins from their first two games of the 2015 Clausura in Saturday's Liga MX action.

Castillo’s side came from 1-0 down to secure a 2-1 victory over Morelia at the Estadio Tres de Marzo, with the 28-year-old putting in a good shift down the left flank.

In the 17th minute, Castillo crossed from the left for Martin Barragan, who headed over, and the Las Cruces, N.M. native was a nuisance going forward throughout the game.

The result puts Atlas level with early leaders Veracruz and Cruz Azul on six points.

In Mexico’s second division, Marco Vidal played the complete game for Mineros de Zacatecas in their 1-1 draw away to Necaxa, while Emanuel Guzman went 72 minutes in Merida’s 2-0 loss on the road to Alebrijes de Oaxaca.

For Dorados de Sinaloa, Stevie Rodriguez came off the bench of their 65th in their 3-1 victory over San Luis.

In Sunday action in the Ascenso MX, goalkeeper Austin Guerrero's Altamira fell 1-0 at home to Atlante, for whom Sonny Guadarrama came on in the 55th minute with the score still 0-0.
