The LA Galaxy have signed French winger Samuel Grandsir from AS Monaco by using Targeted Allocation Money (TAM), it was announced Thursday. Earlier this week, MLSsoccer.com's Tom Bogert reported the move.

The 24-year-old joins on a three-year contract (through 2023) with an additional one-year option after making 115 Ligue 1 appearances across spells with Troyes, Monaco, Strasbourg and Brest since making his professional debut in 2016. Grandsir will occupy an international roster spot upon receipt of his P-1 Visa and International Transfer Certificate (ITC).

“Samuel is an attack-minded, talented player who will strengthen our roster,” general manager Dennis te Kloese said in a release. “He has demonstrated to be an outstanding and talented player in a very respected and competitive league. We are confident he will show his potential and are excited to watch him grow even more and have him become an important part of our roster. We look forward to him joining our squad and integrating Samuel to the team.”

Across 131 combined appearances for Troyes, Monaco, Strasbourg and Brest, Grandsir has scored 12 goals and added 11 assists. The wide midfielder has UEFA Champions League experience and has represented France’s U-21 national team in UEFA U-21 Championship qualifying matches.

To this point, most of LA’s offseason moves have centered around the defense. Most notably, they’ve brought in left back Jorge Villafana and center back Derrick Williams, while goalkeeper Jonathan Bond also came onboard.

The Galaxy still have one Designated Player spot open, with midfielder Jonathan dos Santos and striker Javier “Chicharito” Hernandez currently the two players carrying those roster tags. They’re entering their first full season under head coach Greg Vanney and looking to return to the Audi MLS Cup Playoffs.
