Report: Chris Durkin permanently moves from DC United to Sint-Truiden

TRANSFER TRACKER: Report

Chris Durkin’s time with Belgian side Sint-Truiden could soon become permanent, with The Athletic’s Pablo Maurer reporting that the midfielder has secured a transfer.

The entire move for Durkin is reportedly going to total $1.4 million, with a 25 percent sell-on fee also negotiated into his Belgian Pro League stay. Durkin, who signed with D.C. United as a Homegrown Player in June 2016, initially was loaned to Sint-Truiden in August 2019.

Since landing with Sint-Truiden, Durkin has played in 14 games and scored one goal. During his four MLS seasons, Durkin amassed 36 appearances to go alongside one goal and one assist. Only 20, Durkin featured last summer for the United States at the FIFA U-20 World Cup.

It would be the third time a D.C. United Homegrown has moved overseas, as goalkeeper Bill Hamid previously joined FC Midtjylland in Denmark and Andy Najar went to Anderlecht in Belgium. Hamid is back with D.C., while Najar’s career has been plagued by injuries as of late.
