Frank de Boer responds to reports of Atlanta United targeting Jurgen Damm

With reports swirling that Tigres UANL winger Jurgen Damm is headed to MLS this summer when his contract expires and Atlanta United heavily linked, head coach Frank de Boer spoke on the subject at a press conference ahead of his side's Concacaf Champions League match in Mexico against Club America.

De Boer admitted Damm is a player that he believes would thrive in MLS but says he hasn't heard that the clubs have made contact. MLSsoccer.com already reported that the Houston Dynamo hold his discovery rights.

"Nobody from the team has told me about that player," De Boer said in Spanish. "MLS needs players like him to raise the level, but we're not in contact with him."

Damm, 27, thanked supporters at the end of February and said it was time for him to embark on a new path. Reports said he signed a pre-contract with a club in MLS, then Atlanta were most heavily linked.

One of the fastest players in the world, Damm has featured for Estudiantes Tecos, CF Pachuca and Tigres thus far in his career, all in his native Mexico. He has 13 goals and 23 assists in 172 appearances with Tigres, as well as 12 caps with the Mexican national team.
