Canada national team's Jonathan David hits brace to continue rampant form with Gent

A precocious Canada national team phenom just keeps scoring in Europe. Not that one. The other one.

Jonathan David, five days after his 20th birthday, pounced for a brace in KAA Gent's 3-1 victory over R. Excel Mouscron on Sunday, a result that helps the Belgian side keep pace in a very tight race for the second spot in the Belgian First Division A standings.

The goals give David 11 on the current league campaign for Gent, which currently sit in second place on 42 points through 22 matches, tied with Antwerp on points but ahead by four on goal difference.

Club Brugge lead the league table on 52 points.

David is one goal away from tying his career high in league football, set a season ago. He's also scored four in Europa League play, as Gent will begin their Round of 32 tie against AS Roma on Feb. 20.
