Weston McKennie appears to be facing a substantial stint on the sidelines after he suffered a shoulder injury early in Schalke's Bundesliga match vs. Frankfurt on Sunday.
The US international was knocked off balance in the midst of an aerial challenge and landed hard on his left shoulder, forcing him to be carted off the pitch in the first half.
His club subsequently announced that the preliminary diagnosis is a separated shoulder, a painful injury that typically takes 3-4 months to fully heal.
The FC Dallas academy product has been a regular for the Miners this season, the first under German-American manager David Wagner; Schalke currently sit in fifth place in the BuLi table with a 7W-3L-5D record.
