The New York Red Bulls look to rebound from a home loss to Columbus Crew SC and seek revenge for a Week 20 loss to Toronto FC when the Eastern Conference rivals square off at Red Bull Arena Saturday.
The Red Bulls (10-9-4) conceded three goals for the fifth time in the last eight games in a 3-2 defeat to Crew SC at Red Bull Arena last Saturday. Brian White split a pair of defenders for his eighth goal of the season in the 15th minute, but Luis Argudo leveled one minute later and Pedro Santos gave the visitors a 2-1 lead in the opening minute of the second half. Danny Royer equalized from the penalty spot before Santos netted his second and the game-winner six minutes from full time.
Toronto FC (9-9-5) picked up their third win in the last four games and moved within a point of the playoff line in the East with a 2-1 win over FC Cincinnati last Saturday at BMO Field. Nick DeLeon opened the scoring in the 16th minute and Jozy Altidore doubled the advantage with a sensational strike five minutes into the second half. Emmanuel Ledesma cut the visitors' deficit in half eight minutes later, but TFC would hold on to take all three points.
This is the second meeting this year, with Toronto claiming a 3-1 home win July 17. Altidore and Alejandro Pozuelo staked the hosts a two-goal lead before the half-hour mark and Ashtone Morgan put the game away in the 72nd minute, nine minutes after Tom Barlow gave the Red Bulls a lifeline.
