Two Major League Soccer academy programs left San Diego with silverware.
LAFC cruised through the group stage, winning all three of their games by a 15-1 combined margin.
In the quarterfinals, LAFC defeated Real Salt Lake, 5-0, before besting San Diego Surf, 7-0, to reach the final. There they met up with Total Futbol Academy, which they defeated, 3-0, to claim the title.
Atlanta United’s U-14s also went unbeaten during the group stage, edging Strikers FC, 3-2 a and the San Jose Earthquakes and Manchester City by the same 1-0 scoreline.
Another 1-0 victory followed in the quarterfinals over FC Dallas and a 4-2 win over the Seattle Sounders sent Atlanta United to the final. On the other side was Monterrey, which went unbeaten, but finished second in their group to FC Dallas.
Atlanta United pulled out a 3-2 victory to spark this post-match celebration.
