Heartbreak in London: How did the USeNT fare at eNations Cup?

Team USA eNations Cup - THUMB

It was heartbreak for the United States at the eNations Cup in London, denied entry to the knockout rounds by a last-minute shot that hit the woodwork.

Doolsta of the Philadelphia Union and GGGodfather of the LA Galaxy represented the USeNT well, finishing third in Group B with 20 points, one point behind Spain in second and just three points behind Mexico after a total of 12 matches, with the top two teams advancing to the later stages of the tournament.

Tied 2-2 in the dying moments against China in their 2v2 match, the last group-stage game, USeNT rocked the post with a shot outside the 18 that would have earned the pair two more points and a spot in the knockout rounds.

It wasn't to be for Doolsta and GGGodfather, who still produced some moments of magic along the way. The pair won a 4-3 thriller against Mexico in their 2v2 group stage match, while Doolsta also went down 3-0 to his opponent from El Tri in his 1v1 game but stormed back to earn a draw.

All teams played a total of twelve games — two 1v1s and a 2v2 against each opponent in their group.

France beat Argentina in the final. Mexico and Spain both fell in their quarterfinal matchups, to Denmark and Portugal, respectively.
