Toronto FC's PhilB94 suspended for remainder of FIFA 19 competitive season

PhilB94 - Phil Balke - Toronto FC - eMLS 2019

Toronto FC eMLS player Phil Balke (aka PhilB94) has been suspended for the remainder of the EA Sports FIFA 19 competitive season for violations off the game's rules and code of conduct, meaning he will not participate in eMLS Cup presented by PlayStation on March 29-30.

Balke, who signed with TFC owners Maple Leaf Sports & Entertainment in February 2018, apparently fell afoul of EA Sports' rules governing the game's in-game currency, FIFA Coins, per a report from The Canadian Press.

"MLSE takes the rules and regulations governing our partner leagues seriously and competitive FIFA is no exception," MLSE said in a statement. "We will be further evaluating the situation with Major League Soccer and will provide additional comment at an appropriate time."

Balke issued an apology on social media:

As a result of his missing eMLS Cup, the field for that tournament will consist of 21 players. Balke will remain in the standings, but all 10 of his regular-season games (against each of the 10 Western Conference eMLS players), will be awarded as a 3-0 win to his opponents.
