FC Cincinnati striker Fanendo Adi exited the club's MLS home opener on Sunday against the Portland Timbers due to injury. The Nigerian was subbed off at halftime after a collision with Portland's Larrys Mabiala towards the end of the first half. Adi seemed to be grabbing his left leg after the contact.

"I'm not sure exactly what it is but we're obviously going to have to sit him right now," FC Cincy head coach Alan Koch told FS1's Katie Witham at halftime. "He's not good to go unfortunately."

Adi entered Sunday's match with extra motivation, as he was facing his former team. He was not able to provide his first goal in the Orange and Blue after missing a quality chance in the game's opening minutes. Adi had played every minute for the team in 2019 prior to the injury. The 28-year-old scored 54 MLS goals over four-and-a-half seasons with the club.
