CJ Sapong nets stoppage-time equalizer: That's 2 goals in 2 games for Fire

Acquired just a week before the 2019 season kicked off, the Chicago Fire are seeing their move for forward CJ Sapong pay off nicely.

The veteran MLS forward, now in his 9th MLS season, was immediately thrust into the Fire's starting lineup and he has rewarded the club's faith with two goals in each of the first two matches of the 2019 campaign.

His most recent Week 2 strike on a soaring header was a dramatic equalizer deep in stoppage time as the Fire came away with a 1-1 draw in their home opener at the newly-christened SeatGeek Stadium.

In Week 1, Sapong gave the Fire a momentary advantage against the LA Galaxy at Dignity Health Sports Park (watch below), but that lead did not hold up as the home side stormed back for the win.

Can Sapong make it 3 for 3 in Week 3? Sapong and the Fire host the Seattle Sounders on Saturday (1 pm ET - MLS LIVE on ESPN+ in USA; TSN in Canada), but the 30-year-old striker has just one goal in nine career matches against the Western Conference leaders.
