TRANSFER TRACKER STATUS: Signing

Toronto FC have confirmed the signing of former US international striker Terrence Boyd from German side Darmstadt, the club announced Tuesday.

Boyd, 27, has spent his career to date in Germany and Austria, including stints in the ranks at Hertha Berlin, Borussia Dortmund and RB Leipzig. He's found the most success in Austria with Rapid Wien and German second-division club Darmstadt, where he's been since 2017.

With Darmstadt, Boyd has scored five goals in 44 appearances while dealing with injuries over the years, including a torn ACL. He enjoyed his most successful spell with Rapid Vienna, where he had 37 goals and 11 assists in 80 appearances.

ā€œWe are excited to welcome Terrence and his family to the club. Terrence is a player that weā€™ve tracked for years during his time with the U.S. National Team and in Germany,ā€ TFC general manager Ali Curtis said in a statment. ā€œHe is an experienced, attacking player that is capable of scoring goals in MLS. Weā€™re looking forward to him joining our preseason and integrating himself into the group.ā€

Boyd has 14 caps (1 start) for the US national team, though has played just a total of three minutes across two appearances since 2013.

Toronto have been busy this offseason, recently selling attacking stars Sebastian Giovinco and Victor Vazquez. The club are reportedly looking to bring in an attacker in their prime on a Designated Player contract.

TFC have already added former Best XI defender Laurent Ciman, as well as Nick DeLeon and currently hold the league's top spot in the Allocation Order.
